Going Off-grid
One of the exciting things about staying with us is experiencing Off-Grid living, yet with all the creature comforts of home. The Tiny Home is powered by solar with a battery backup. This requires a different approach to living using Mains power. Please be conservative with how you approach the use of power. Don’t run too many appliances at the same time, only run the air conditioning when you need to. Ensure the air conditioner is turned off when leaving the tiny house.
Eco-Loo:
In our effort to achieve a light-touch on our environment and provide an off-grid experience, our Tiny Homes are equipped with an Eco-loo. These are dry composting toilets that due to the design are less offensive in odor than the conventional drop toilet and more friendly to the environment. They are very easy to use, simply 1-scoop after you… and keeping the lid closed when not in use.
Water Supply:
We use water pumped and filtered from the river, so changes in water clarity can differ. This water is gravity-fed from our water tanks onsite and feeds the mains taps in the bathroom and kitchen sink. There is a second tap in the kitchen that is for drinking water; this is harvested rainwater, which is then UV-treated. During heavy frost events, water can become frozen in the line blocking water. If this occurs, please get in contact with us as this will affect all water on site. The water will unfreeze as the frost clears.
Reception & Wi-fi
Phone reception ends with the black-top roads, meaning you will have no signal during your stay. However, we have situated an Emergency Wi-Fi Hotspot at the front gate of the Homestead.
About the Property
On the property, we run cattle and welcome people to come and experience a time away that allows you to slow down and reconnect once again with yourself and partner, or even your family.
The roads on the property are weather-prone, but remain 2WD accessible year-round, with routine grading and maintenance.
You can walk anywhere on our property. Please be mindful of other guests' privacy, as there are other Tiny Homes privately placed throughout, and leave gates as you found them.
