Tathra, Forest & Beach Retreat

A unique sustainable experience. The architect designed house is immersed in nature like a glass box in the canopy. Totally off grid, with power from the sun and water from the tanks. The eight hectares of land is surrounded by Mimosa Rocks National Park. Close to Nelson Lagoon one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast. The nearby village of Tathra offers restaurants, cafes and a pub with live music. This beautiful house is a great place for families or quiet intimate occasions.

Both bedrooms have queen beds with uninterrupted views out into the spotted gum forest. There are two generous decks on either side of the house so there’s always a place in the sun or shade. You will deeply relax as you watch the bird life flitting in the trees as the light changes through the day. There are intimate district views over the lagoon below the house that continue on along the Bega River. Watch the sun set, eat out doors, cook on the BBQ or relax on the day bed and read a book. We encourage our guests to cook outdoors on the BBQ, open fire or in the pizza oven. There is an indoor induction cook top and wood fire for cooking and warmth in colder months. . The house is double glazed so cool in summer and toasty warm in winter. Guests must be comfortable with living off grid - When the sun shines you will have abundance but on cloudy and heavily overcast days you must be mindful of power usage to keep the battery functioning. The very beautiful 1.5 km drive in through the forest from the Bermagui /Tathra Road is a bit rough but accessible for any 2 wheel drive vehicle.
There are many National Park beaches to choose from besides "our local beach" at Nelson while Tathra's main beach and estuary is just minutes away. There are over 50 km of mountain bike riding tracks for those looking for a unique forest experience and bushwalking tracks through out the surrounding national parks.
