Additional Information

Our home reflects our passion for both the natural environment and for intelligent, beautiful design. It features solar power, rainwater tanks, a septic system, green design features and zero VOC finishes. Our environmental care also extends to the cleaning products we use. And our home is filled with ‘retro’ and pre-loved fixtures and furnishings.

The house features three enormous, light-filled bedrooms all with BIRs. The master suite includes a king bed, a walk-in robe with laundry chute, and an ensuite with stunning views. The second bedroom features a queen bed and leander cot. The third large bedroom features a separate single bed plus a bunk bed with a single on top and double underneath. And there is a single day bed (with proper mattress) in the toy/games space. There is also a spare single mattress that can be placed on the floor if also required. A re-conditioned, 100 year old claw foot bath takes pride of place in the enormous vintage-style bathroom.

We are a family and understand kid-friendly accommodation. Our space includes: a gorgeous leander cot and all bedding; high chairs; block-out blinds, double-glazing, screens and heaters in all bedrooms; kiddy toilet seat available; huge bath; plenty of toys in separate toy room next to the living area (which also includes a gorgeous upright piano); enclosed deck space; amazing 'magic faraway tree' cubby house; trampoline; sheep, goats, alpacas and horses all within walking distance.

The house is accessed through a keyless lock on the front door (off the large decks behind the green/living wall). Once your booking is confirmed, we will send you the access code and a PDF containing information all about the White House. We will also send the wifi password.

The house has a large, rambling, very private garden with stunning views - all yours to enjoy!

LINEN: To try and keep accomodation costs down and more accessible for everyone we don't normally supply bed sheets, pillowcases or bath towels (ALL other linen and bedding is included). However, if you're coming from out of town, or if it's inconvenient for you to bring your own, we can supply hotel-quality hire linen for an extra charge (from $50 per stay depending on the number in your party/number of beds used). We've found this works well, as many people heading out of Melbourne for the weekend prefer to save a few $ by supplying their own sheets, pillowcases and bath towels. But we're flexible, so let us know what suits you best!

PETS: We love all animals so usually welcome well-behaved companion animals with their responsible guardians. Please let us know some details about your furry companion prior to booking. We charge a pet stay fee of $50.

NEED MORE ROOM?: We also have a cottage on the property which can be booked through a separate listing. The 'Stone House on the Hill' has it's own separate backyard, driveway and parking. There is a fence/screening separating the 2 houses to ensure privacy. The are not located close together ensuing peace and quiet for all guests. If you have a large group, contact us for a price for the entire property.

FOOD/SHOPPING: There is no large supermarket on the mountain, however the local Foodworks is extremely well stocked (with a good range of vegan and gluten free products), and the local service station is open very late and stocks basic supplies. Or if you don't feel like cooking , the Yarra Valley - with it's large number of wineries and restaurants - is only a 15-20 min drive away.

LOCAL AREA: Although only an hour from the city, the natural environment and clean mountain air helps you feel a million miles away. Enjoy all that the Kinglake National Park, Yarra Valley and surrounding areas have to offer. And don't miss St Andrews Market (just 18 mins away) held every Saturday - organic fruit and veg, great food and coffee, live music, massages, clothing, bric a brac and heaps more.

We live beachside in the Byron Bay area of east coast Australia, and run The Owl & The PussyCat Farm Animal Sanctuary. We love nature, animals, good food, and try to walk lightly on the planet. Our dream is to live in off-grid luxury, growing our own food, surrounded by our rescued herds and flocks!
