CABIN DETAILS
The cabin is a comfortable space, the wood fire providing the cosy ambience while the contemporary and vintage pieces pay homage to mountain cabin style and the great outdoors. Sit back on your Adirondack chairs on the stone porch and take in the mountain air and greenery. In winter cosy up in front of the fire with a wine and a fleecy blanket. It has been known to snow in Ebor.
The cabin has all the inclusions you would expect in a fine hotel, cotton bedding and towel sets, eco soap, hairdryer, iron, as well as a full kitchen and laundry facilities. There is also a travel cot on site for an infant.
It also has satellite TV, coffee pod machine and other little extras like coffee table books and throw rugs and cushions to add a touch of cosy luxury. Ebor village has good wi-fi signal.
There is also a range of fine teas and pods, and other helpful pantry items like olive oil to get you started.
Troutbeck Cottage is easy walking distance to Ebor's famous twin waterfalls along the picturesque (and sealed) national park walking track, the Guy Fawkes River as well as the village café and retro pub (two doors down).
Of course Ebor's speciality is its trout fishing and there are an abundance of streams to practise your craft during fishing season October through to June. Then it's just a matter of bringing your bounty home and cooking up a feast on the cottage's barbecue.
In summer witness the beautiful displays of wild Shasta daisies throughout the village and surrounding Guy Fawkes River National Park and in autumn the vibrant oranges and reds of its avenues of deciduous trees.
The quaint village of Ebor is situated 40mins from the attractive mountain town of Dorrigo and its world heritage national parks and skywalk. The hip and happening Bellingen 'Bello' is a further 20mins down the road from there. The historic New England city of Armidale is also less than an hour's drive.
Guests have exclusive use of the entire property.
No physical interaction but only a phone call away. There is a property caretaker available to attend in case of emergency.
It's peaceful location and friendly village atmosphere. The crisp, fresh air and abundance of nature in its various forms of glory.
Ebor is a quiet remote village up on top of mountain range hence its appeal. You can walk to village café, hotel/motel and waterfalls but will need a vehicle to explore this naturally-blessed area.
Ebor is a great place to stop and rediscover the area's natural beauty whether bushwalking, cycling or fishing. Spring is refreshing, summers are mild, Autumn is just breathtaking and winter, whilst cold, is perfect for cosying up with a wine in front of the fireplace.
Guests have exclusive use of the entire property.

I'm a journalist/sub editor for a regional daily newspaper and keen to start traveling internationally now my daughter has grown up. I'm a 'young' 48, looking forward to venturing out of Australia more and soaking up different cultures and sights and perhaps write a few travel stories along the way. My partner Simon is a photographer and wine writer who has some travel experience and is keen to get more. We opened our own boutique, short-stay accommodation The Grey House in our hometown of Grafton in July 2014. It's 130 year old worker's cottage we have restored to create a homely but stylish space for visitors to rest their head and explore our historic city with its vast waterway -- the Clarence River -- right at its centre.
In 2017 we added Troutbeck Cottage, Ebor (1.5 hours from Grafton). The cute one-bedroom mountain escape is in walking distance to village's famous waterfalls. It has been refurbished to channelling a Scandi cabin style and is suitable for couples and families wanting to get back to nature in comfort. I'm an avid collector of vintage furniture and contemporary art some of which you will see at both The Grey House and Troutbeck Cottage.
