As a fully operational merino sheep and cattle farm, Markdale provides a unique window into Australian country life. Beyond the paddocks, you’ll find one of the nation’s premier private estates: our award-winning Edna Walling garden. Spanning 5 acres, this historic masterpiece was redesigned in 1949 and continues to inspire visitors with its timeless landscape design.

Wildlife

Our region is home to a range of wildlife including a range of flies, mosquitoes, moths and wasps. You may also come into contact with snakes, lizards, rabbits, wild pigs, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and echidnas.

Please keep your distance, slowly back away and contact the Farm Staff immediately if needed.

Safety

Please remember this is a working property so it is important to always shut and latch the gates, including the gates around the Stone Cottages.

For your own safety please do not enter any of the sheds or touch machinery, the vehicles or chemicals.

There are numerous unfenced dams which can represent a danger to non-swimmers. It is important to supervise children at all times on the property and also while using the pool facilities.

Please be aware of fire regulations and obey them.
