Pelicans soar past. Teals paddle nearby. Fish jump from the water. Or just wave to the occasional fishing or houseboat as they cruise past.
Around dusk is the perfect time for a plate of Clyde River Oysters washed down with your favourite wine or ale. If it gets a little chilly, enjoy your own campfire or even have a barbecue.

We have been involved in the tourism industry for many years. Not only as avid travellers, but also helping travellers enjoy their own experiences. We've been involved in helping manage one of the worlds largest adventure travel companies. We've owned and operated a holiday park on the south coast where we welcomed guests from across the globe. Trip Advisor rated it as a Centre of Excellence.
In short, we understand the needs of travellers and we will do our best to ensure you have the best possible experience. Whether it is a friendly chat or directing you to one of our favourite coffee shops, we can help. Want to go bushwalking? We know the best walks. Want to see Kangaroos? We know where you are guaranteed to see them! Want to know the best beaches? We lived on one of them for over 13 years.
We also understand you may prefer to just enjoy the serenity. We will respect your privacy. If it is peace and quiet you seek, we have no immediate neighbours - unless you include the odd houseboat cruising past.....
We are located right on the Clyde River less than a kilometre downstream from the historic village of Nelligen. Being in a dead end laneway means no traffic. Only a couple of dozen houses on this side of the river.
At Nelligen, there is just one shop - ideal for a coffee or fish and chips.
Just another kilometre past the village is the Steampacket Hotel with a bistro and excellent craft beer.
Batemans Bay is just a 7 minute drive away with all the amenities you would expect to find in a large regional centre.
Canberra is 140kms away. Under a 2 hour drive. Sydney is 330kms away and takes between 3.5 to 4 hours.
BY CAR FROM CANBERRA
From Canberra, cross the Nelligen Bridge. Take the very first turn to the right at the top of the hill. (Thule Road) and left again into Sproxtons Lane. Go all the way to the end of the laneway and we are on the right hand side. Our red mailbox has the number, 33.
BY CAR FROM BATEMANS BAY OR SYDNEY
From Batemans Bay or Sydney, turn off the Princes Highway on to the Kings Highway (To Canberra.) Drive for around 9kms and turn left at Thule Road. (There is also a large sign saying "Sunlit Waters" at this turnoff.) Continue keeping left on Bridgeview Road before turning left into Sproxtons Lane. Go all the way to the end of the laneway and we are on the right hand side. Our red mailbox has the number, 33.

BRING YOUR BOAT OR KAYAK
If you want to bring your boat, there are two boat ramps nearby and plenty of space on the property to park your boat and trailer.
CAN WE FISH OFF THE JETTY?
Absolutely. Flathead, bream, mulloway and the odd snag! You will probably need a licence though. If you don't have one, we can help you arrange on online.
CAN YOU SWIM IN THE RIVER?
The property is right on the Clyde River. Though you can swim in the river, the tidal influence can be strong. So we do ask you use your common sense and be water safe in general. If you do bring your own boat or kayak, we can offer you lots of advice, but you may be unable to tie up at the Jetty depending upon your boat size.
Though we live on site, it doesn't always mean we will be here. We like to travel a lot - either overseas or maybe just going for a kayak paddle down the Clyde!
We've put in a huge effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We ask you to respect the property in return. Many of our treasures have been put into your accommodation to make you feel really special. Some of these items are unique and irreplaceable. They hold dear memories for us. So we ask you to please look after everything as best you can.
Unfortunately we can't accommodate your pets.
And then there are the obvious things. Please don't waste water or electricity. No parties or uninvited guests. Just the usual stuff about doing the right thing is all we ask of you.
And please, NO SMOKING in the accommodation. We don't mind you smoking outside so long as you pick up your butts and dispose of properly. We are surrounded by bushland, so we ask you to take particular care of flames and fires.

We are both keen independent travellers. When travelling, we look for places in great locations that reflect the local area.
Apart from travel, we enjoy going kayaking on the Clyde River - right at our doorstep. Bushwalking in the surrounding National Parks or searching for the perfect cappuccino are other local pursuits.
Peter is also a licensed microlight and ultralight pilot. He can occasionally be seen flying over the Clyde River Cottage. For several years, he was involved in the management of one of the worlds largest adventure travel companies which enabled him to see the world quite differently from the average traveller. White water rafting, sea kayaking, sailing, trekking and cycling were all part of the job. Peter was also a commercial hot air balloon pilot. His latest adventure involved driving an auto-rickshaw 3500 kilometres across India.
Wendy is an enthusiastic traveller. She has ridden camels in the deserts of the Sinai and India. Trekked in Nepal. Ballooned over Australia. Other countries visited include Indonesia, Poland, France, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Italy, Cambodia, Albania, Ireland, Greece, Myanmar, Cuba, Japan, Hungary, Georgia, Colombia, Sri Lanka and many many more. France is her favourite though and she loves any opportunity to exchange a few sentences with like-minded French travellers.
They are both distance runners. Peter has 40 marathons under his belt. Wendy completed her first marathon in Medellin, Colombia, 2019. We look forward to having you stay with us and giving us the opportunity to share why love this part of Australia so much. It has taken us a lifetime to get here. Our search is over.
