Yilawura is all about switching off, winding down, and reconnecting with nature. The dream was to create a place to escape work life, a place to make memories with family and friends, and a place to nurture and develop for the future. When we were first introduced to the property we immediately fell in love with the natural beauty of the the landscape, from the striking escarpment that surrounds the property, to the kangaroos and wallabies that roam the paddocks, to the many native birds make their home amongst the grasses and trees. Since taking on the property, originally an alpaca farm, we have renovated the original farm house to create a comfortable home, with every convenience required to escape and switch off. We’ve planted more than 300 new native plants and trees, to help support the wildlife and ensure the property is sustainable into the future. The name yilawura means ‘a pleasant place to camp’ in the local Wiradjuri language, and is both the perfect name for our property, and recognition of the original inhabitants of the Capertee area. We know that you’ll love yilawura as much as we do, and can’t wait to welcome you. Dylan & David
