Additional Information

You are welcome to explore anywhere on the farm (except the cottage and inside the livestock yards) You are welcome to explore the back yard, gardens, just watch where you step. ;) greenhouse, herb garden, upper garden entrance.
WiFi is avail., (you may borrow from our collection of DVDs to play on your laptop or borrow our smallish flat screen TV, and DVD player, just ask). there are books to read and,
there are board games, colouring books for kids and grown ups, coloured pencils and if you want, Adrienne can teach you how to paint a rock to take home for a memorable souvenir!

We love chatting and getting to know our guests. That's what is special about Riparide, the interaction with guests and hosts. We have found most guests don't stay in people's homes or properties unless they really want to interact with the hosts a wee bit. But, if you need your own space we are fine with that as well. :) we understand that traveling can be tiresome and we want you to enjoy your time here and relax as much as possible.

If you want to feed treats to the animals we will give you something to give them. Just ask Jim.
All the animals love to be fed treats!

We love living away from town, in the woods.
Our road is dirt and gravel, there may be a few potholes, our road is maintained by one of the neighbors when he has time, so drive slow and be aware.

We raise 'hair sheep' (they shed their wool naturally in the spring)
We raise dairy goats too and there is guardian Llama to keep the coyotes away.
We have chickens and turkeys, 2 Magpie ducks to keep the slug population down.
We grow our own organic vegetables and fruits, herbs and flowers.

Black Ball Ferry takes you to Victoria, B. C. and back from downtown Port Angeles. Crossing is aprox 90 minutes. (check their website to check)

PLEASE NOTE!: we ask that you provide a full profile with a clear photo of you and your spouse/partner/friend.
And (totally optional)I would like to know a little (or a lot!) about you: what you do/did for a living, what you like to do, why you are traveling to our lovely area, etc.

And please tell me your traveling companion's name/s

Our Treehouse will be yours for your stay, and we like treat our guests as part of the family. (Well, actually I make family take out the garbage, run errands, etc, let's say more like really good friends) ;)

NOTE: Children must be supervised at ALL times. No climbing on the railings surrounding the treehouse decking, no feeding any animals without asking Jim first.

We moved to the Olympic Peninsula 20 yrs ago from California where I had a sign and mural business for 20+ years and Jim worked as a pest control officer in Vallejo. I am a Washington native, Jim is from Rodeo, CA. We raise sheep, goats, ducks, and chickens, grow vegetables, berries, herbs, and fruit. Our 'zoo' consists of 12 sheep, 1 20 goats, 1 very friendly Corgi, 1 Aussie, 1 cat, 1 parrot, 2 budgies, 4 finches, 1 frog, 2 ducks, 4 turkeys and a lot of chickens. Retired from the sign and mural business, I now spend time in my art studio, doing what I love best, painting wildlife and other things. I love to travel and have visited England, Scotland, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and Israel. Jim likes to stay home and receive postcards from me. If there is one thing I love, that's spoiling my guests. If you stay with us you will be treated like dear friends and I will do my best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We want our guests to feel loved and cared for. We want you to feel a sense of peace, we like to call it 'Shalom in our home' while you are visiting, a total relaxation from the worries and cares of home and work. Relax, enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of wine or cup of tea, watch the sunset to the west. Sleep to the sounds of frogs' chorus at the pond close to you, or owls calling to their mates even coyotes singing from behind our woods! In the morning birdwatch from bed even while you sip your coffee! This is what we hope folks will do when they stay. For so many, Its hard to relax, but we hope that you will. And we hope you will leave here feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and loved, ready to face the world! :) SHALOM!❤
