The Humpy: A Cosy Winter Escape

Tucked away in Wildes Meadow, The Humpy is one of the Southern Highland's best-kept secrets. It's set on a stunning country property surrounded by large eucalypts, evergreen trees, winter roses and luscious hydrangeas.

When we arrived, we were immediately whisked away by the romance of our surroundings. The crisp country air, the smell of wood burning from nearby chimneys and.... silence. The kind of silence that allows nature to sing. As we opened the vintage Dutch doors, we were welcomed by a large, open-plan living area that was perfect for a romantic weekend away. Inside was a plush king-size bed, a comfy lounge for kicking back and a dining table, along with a gorgeous overhead shower that we drenched ourselves under each night.

Tina, the owner, went above and beyond to provide yummy treats for us to enjoy while at The Humpy. We were delighted to find dips, crackers and bread, along with jam, yoghurt, granola and fruit. Although there wasn't a kitchen, we made use of the sandwich press and kettle to prepare a cute brekky each morning.

We spent the days exploring the local townships. Robertson, Mossvale and Bowral are less than half an hour away and full of things to do, see and eat. In the evenings, we cranked the gas heater, opened a bottle of wine and unwound over a game of cards. As the sun disappeared, we headed outside to sit by the open fire pit and watch the stars flicker in the night sky while toasting marshmallows – the perfect way to end any weekend.
