Farm-Fresh Freedom

Welcomed at the door by Annette, who already had the fire in our room roaring, we got started on the delicious port and Lindt chocolate as we began to unwind from a long week at work. Driving in, we knew there must be an epic view in the surrounding darkness as the car's high beams lit up absolutely nothing on the road to the retreat. Waking up nice and early in the morning, we were greeted with the most beautiful sunrise view of the hills.

After enjoying a breakfast of farm-fresh eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice and the delicious vegetables that were waiting for us in the fridge, we were set for a big day of exploring what Southern Gippsland and the Phillip Island region have to offer. Having never visited this beautiful area of Victoria before, it was a delight to discover the sights of The Nobbies down at Phillip Island, as well as Flynns Beach and Phillip Island Winery before coming back to be taken on a full walking tour of the farm with Andrew and his pup Frankie. In the evening, we had a delicious chicken parmi at the San Remo Hotel and a hot chocolate back at the retreat, courtesy of the local chocolaterie.

Finding the motivation to leave Rockbank Retreat on Sunday morning was a struggle we wish we didn’t have to endure! What a lovely place to stay. It provided the perfect opportunity to switch off from work and connect with each other and what makes us feel the most relaxed. Definitely feeling refreshed after this one.

We walked around the boardwalk at The Nobbies, on Phillip Island, where there's so much wildlife to see including, if you're lucky, whales, seals and the local geese on the drive in. Be careful, they sit on the road! There is also a cafe here, where you can get a coffee and lunch while enjoying the view.

We popped in here to get a taste of the local wines. Highly recommended after a morning of exploring the area!

Andrew took us on a walking tour of the property, which has 360 degree views at its highest point. We witnessed the most beautiful sunset up there. Absolutely breathtaking!

We visited Flynns Beach and its tree-covered entrance before heading down to the bridge at Kilcunda Beach. Both were beautiful beaches to stop and reset.
