Nestled away in Wye River

Imagine yourself stumbling across a quaint coastal town tucked away within the Great Ocean Road's many descending hills, bushes and sharp curves. Here you'll find Wye River - a small yet breathtaking part of the world known as Gadubanud country - only 2 and a half hours away from Melbourne.

We stayed at 'Y Vue,' an old school surf shack quite literally only a matter of metres away from the beach. The view? Silly. You will be able to witness the ocean's vastness and experience its oceanic pull all from the balcony. Done.

When we weren't at the property, we were at the Wye River Hotel (about 50 metres down the road), having a swim, going for bike rides, or enjoying breakfast at the local Wye River Cafe. If you're looking to slow down, keep scrolling.

If you're feeling a bit lack lustre about going to the shops and buying groceries for your stay, we recommend stopping into Wye General - a cafe and general store. We came here for breakfast first thing in the morning, and grabbed ourselves some chilli scrambled eggs to fuel us for our day ahead. Expect stunning views of the beach, Wye locals and friendly staff.

After a long day either going for 40km bike ride or sitting on your bum reading your book, its time to visit the pub and watch the sunset. If you're after a local craft beer, or even a cheeky Shiraz gin, they've got it sorted.

Within 10-15 minutes you'll be able to witness cascading falls and lush bushland of Grey River - welcome to Carisbrook Falls. There is a mini bench too, at the top. Bring your book, coffee, tea, friend, and enjoy the incredible view that Grey River offers.
