Fireside bathing at Country Retreat
Adventure in Hallston, Gippsland, VIC, AU
I arrived at my charming stay just after 4pm, and didn't leave for next three days! This luxury country escape had everything I needed and more.
Once used as Hallston Primary School, this converted building was not spared in the details. Beautiful golden fixtures, deluxe linen plus a bathtub just waiting for me to sink into. This deluxe bit of heaven still kept some of its school's charm including a school bell left at the front door. And of course, I gave it a good ol' ring-a-ding!
Breakfast goodies including homegrown produce and a loaf of baked bread were gifted from the hosts and I had so many tea options. Even the bathroom had little accessories! I bathed, afternoon napped, watched some light-hearted movies on Disney+ as well as tried out the record player. The restful reconnect with myself was needed for my heart and soul - I was feeling ready to do life after two peaceful nights at this care factor plus palace!
I set off for a drive around the local area and weaved my way through the large forest trees checking out all the little produce stands along the way! I also found a spud farm, which had more than just spuds! I discovered a berry farm and got completely lost in the world of berries, especially the strawberries! I think I ate that many strawbs, I started to turn into one!
I managed to walk out with a variety of berries to take on a nearby picnic at Moonlight Creek. Once I filled up my tummy, I took the walking loop around the Mount Worth State Park spotting all kinds of bird life, fungi, and wild flowers! After some reconnection to myself, I was feeling some reconnection with nature. I left this adventure feeling so wholesome and rejuvenated.
If you're looking for a little R&R my friends, this sweet haven is the place to be!

Things We Did
- Scenic Drive
- Farm
- Forest
I took the roads less travelled towards the berry farm and found some produce stalls and beautiful scenery along the way. The spud shed was just on the Princes Highway but I wasn't on that long before I turned down a track towards Moonlight Creek.
Yep! Of course I found a berry farm at Sunny Creek! Eat as you pick. You know, one for the tub and one for my tum! All sorts available, depending on the season. Summer is the best time to visit and wear comfy shoes friends!
I set up a picnic lunch here as well as explored the walking trails through the Mount Worth State Park. Lots of little creeks, bird life and fungi! Easy track, toilets available as well as heaps of parking and picnic tables.
