Munbilla Walkerville
Adventure in Tarwin Lower, Gippsland, VIC, AU
Our excitement started to build as we arrived at the gates of Munbilla Walkerville. The long driveway showed us glimpses of the ocean and gave us a small taste of what was in store at for the next few days. Our jaws dropped as we parked cars, gasping at the expansive, uninterrupted ocean views in front of us. This was a Riparide team escape that we were sure to remember.
Munbilla Walkerville enjoys private beach access, so after a quick exploration of the expansive luxurious home, we decided on a leg stretch down the hill to the beach. The rugged beach below was completely deserted and we discovered lovely rockpools for an icy dip. Warmed up properly from the walk back up the hill, we jumped straight into the pool and promptly decided to clear the hike from the schedule that afternoon - there was no way we were doing anything except being right here.
The rest of the afternoon was spent swimming and lounging in the sun. Then we lit the wood-fired oven - it was pizza night! As the oven heated up over the next hours, we lounged by the fire pit and took in the view. The already stunning view took our breath away again and again as the colors changed with the sunset.
Waking in the morning to the Munbilla's ocean views was surreal. Starting the day with a pool swim, sauna, and coffee left us supercharged and ready to go. With perfect sun-drenched Autumn weather ahead for the day, we packed lunch after breakfast and headed further south into Wilsons Prom for some more adventures.
The walk from Whisky Bay to Tidal River was lovely and took us along the coastline with several beaches that we could have explored for hours. Once we reached Tidal River, it was time for the boat cruise. Having just explored the coast by foot, it was incredible to then explore by sea! The boat charged us through the waves and took us to the most southerly point of the Australian mainland, to a seal colony, and the infamous Skull Rock. It was a wind swept, salty afternoon that we will never forget.
That night, we settled back into Munbilla Walkerville filled with contentment. We lit the indoor fire, played games of pool, cooked up a Mexican feast, and enjoyed a movie snuggled into the incredible cinema room. We could have happily spent another week here at Munbilla Walkerville. It truly was the perfect home for our team escape, and we all vowed to come back with our loved ones for another stay.
