Serene Escape in Nature

We stumbled upon Seven Rocks, a delightful hidden gem in Bellellen, after taking a turn off a quiet country road. This adorable tiny house, nestled among fields and gum trees, was the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway. As the sun set, Mt. William bathed in a warm golden light, and we found ourselves enchanted by the cheerful sounds of magpies and kookaburras.

The next morning, soft light poured through our windows as we sipped coffee on the deck, taking in the fresh air. We treated ourselves to breakfast at Flame Brother in Halls Gap before heading out to explore the beautiful Grampians. We were in awe of the rugged cliffs and stunning valleys, with highlights like the misty Mackenzie Falls, Hollow Mountain, and the breathtaking views from Reeds Lookout. After a day of adventure, we cozied up back at Seven Rocks for a lovely lunch and some reading.

At night, we enjoyed a charming dinner under lantern light, gazing up at the stars. Seven Rocks turned out to be so much more than just a place to stay; it helped us reconnect with nature, each other, and ourselves. What a wonderful experience!

It was a crisp morning when we set out for MacKenzie Falls in Grampians National Park. The sun lit up the bushland as we arrived at the trailhead, and we felt excited about seeing the falls. At the lookout platform, we heard the roar of the waterfall. There it was—a powerful cascade pouring into a clear pool below, surrounded by ancient rocks and green plants. We wanted to get closer. The path down to the base was steep and challenging, but when I reached the bottom, the mist from the falls felt refreshing. Looking up at the stunning waterfall, we felt small yet alive, amazed by the sound of the rushing water.

The setting sun painted the sky in gold as we began our hike to Wudjub-Guyun (Hollow Mountain). The trail started in a green gully lined with banksias and grass trees. The air smelled of eucalyptus, helping me focus. The path quickly became steep, testing our determination. We passed an iron-stained cliff that shone in the light and navigated around fallen boulders. Our hearts raced with excitement as I neared the top. We encountered naturally carved caverns that glowed amber in the fading light. We paused to touch the cool stone, feeling connected to the forces that shaped this place.

At the peak, the view amazed us. The vast Wimmera Plains stretched out, and Mount Stapylton stood tall on the horizon. The wind whispered around us as the sun set, casting long shadows. We sat quietly, watching day turn to night, feeling a deep peace. The climb was hard, but the reward was a beautiful moment in nature. As darkness fell, we headed back down, carrying the memory of that sunset in our heart.

Our morning at Flame Brothers Restaurant & Bar in Halls Gap was nothing short of delightful. Nestled beside Stoney Creek, the cozy, family-owned spot instantly felt welcoming. The aroma of freshly brewed Campos coffee greeted us as we took our seats, making it clear we were in for a treat.

For breakfast, we couldn’t resist sharing a few dishes—each one packed with flavor and made with care. The atmosphere was lively, with a mix of locals and travelers enjoying their meal.

Whether it’s the coffee, the food, or the friendly vibe, Flame Brothers is a spot we’d return to in a heartbeat. Perfect for starting a day of Grampians adventures!

We made a quick trip to Reed Lookout and WOW—what a view! From the summit, we were treated to sweeping vistas of Victoria Valley, the rugged Serra Range, and even Lake Wartook shimmering in the distance. This is the best spot for a quick stopover after we visit Mackenzie Falls.
