The Bus Stop
Adventure in Huntly, Goldfields, VIC, AU
Now this is the kinda Bus I could never miss!!!
Located in Huntly, Victoria, forever parked, I discovered this converted old school bus and oh my gosh what a find! Loads of sitting nooks with the drivers seat I still intact, dining space, a kitchen, 2 bunk beds, a bathroom with a flushing toilet annnnnd a sweet double bed cosy area fitted with warm lit fairy lights. The kitchen had it all and I was mighty impressed with the air fryer. That is a rare find in homes away from home. Welcome snacks were left on the table which made me very happy because snacks are a complete priority with any bus journey I have ever taken. The space was actually huge. It got me thinking that I could easily live in a bus with a couple of dogs, no worries! It felt like there was room for everyone has how a bus usually feels.!
The outside featured a gas BBQ, loads of firewood and hang on to your school hats my friends because there were TWO outdoor tubs!!!! I made some air fry snacks with dipping sauce that evening, prepped the tub, lit the fire and enjoyed a soak under the stars with a glass of red. I warmed up around the camp fire watching the flames dance through the night before making my way back to the bus stop. The stars were shining bright that night.
The next morning I decided to check out the oldest working pottery joint in Australia which is minutes from the bus abode. Pretty darn impressive I must say! I spent the afternoon at Lake Eppalock soaking up the sun and duck diving with my new goose friend, a local resident. I watched the sunset roll in over the lake then mozied on back to my Bus stop. I washed the day away, hoping my goose friend had a comfy bed like me tonight.
Check out morning, I spent most of my time reading books found on the bus and drinking coffee in my supplied fluffy dressing gown! SO snuggly! It was nice not to be moving so much. I am sure this is how the bus feels too. It is good for us all to just stop and this bus was my gentle reminder of that. Even if the thought came later in my stay, it arrived at the time I needed it to.
Like all things do.
*Please note friends, the bus is situated on a shared property with a permanent resident and surrounding neighbours. The host has created screening and a space to ensure your privacy, although you may spot a few neighbours walking their dog or driving past.

Things We Did
- Experience
- Starry sky
- Lake
Established in 1857, the Bendigo Pottery is Australia's oldest working pottery! The original kiln and industrial building is open to the public with no entry fee. Options to purchase pottery, see pottery demos and even have your turn with some wheel throwing!
Enjoyed a camp fire under a starry night. The kind of stars I like to meet..
I spent an entire afternoon here at Lake Eppalock and was kicking myself I didn't bring along my paddle board! I made a friend with the local lake goose and decided to enjoy the sunset and van dinner too! Loads of spots around the Lake to park up. I started at Randell's Cove. There's toilets, BBQ and a few spots to load your boat in if ya keen for a fish! Epic place.
