Glamping where the river whispers
Adventure in Waihi, Waikato, NZ
Tucked quietly among rolling farmland, the tub site feels like stepping into a slower, softer world. The glamping tent sits peacefully in nature, offering a creative and restorative escape. Perfect for a solo retreat or a romantic getaway for two.
Mornings begin with birdsong and the gentle sound of the nearby river flowing endlessly, like a natural meditation track. With no fridge on site, we found it easiest to grab takeout before arriving and keep it cool in the chiller bin with ice packs. Simple meals can be prepared in the charming outdoor kitchen or enjoyed around the cute little BBQ area as the sun sets over the fields.
One of the highlights is the short bush walk up the signed track to the lookout. Bring a torch if you are heading up early or late, as sunrise and sunset here are truly magical, with sweeping views across the valley.
Back at the site, relaxation comes easily. There is a warm outdoor shower and, just ten metres away, a beautiful bath tucked among the bush that is the perfect place to soak under the open sky. Spend the afternoon exploring the property, swinging from the giant tyre swing, visiting the horses, or finding the tiny private river swimming hole.
Whether you are reading on the deck, swaying in a hammock, or taking a short trip to Waihi Beach, this place invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature.

The walk winds through native bush before opening up to sweeping views across the surrounding farmland and valleys. Gorgeous little creek on the property just a short walk from the glamping tent.
Only a short drive from the property, Waihi Beach is the perfect coastal escape. Spend the day swimming in the clear ocean, stretching out on the golden sand, or trying your hand at surfing. It’s a fantastic spot for beginners wanting to learn, with gentle waves and surf schools nearby. Grab a coffee or fish and chips, enjoy the sunshine, and take a long beach walk while soaking up the relaxed seaside atmosphere.
A short scenic drive from the property will take you to the vibrant coastal town of Whangamatā Beach. Known for its long stretch of golden sand and famous surf, it’s the perfect place for a relaxed beach day. Take a swim in the clear water, try surfing some of the region’s best waves, or simply walk along the shoreline soaking up the sunshine. Hidden just a short walk from the glamping tent is one of the most special features of the stay — a private outdoor bath surrounded by native bush. Fill the tub, sink into the warm water, and listen to the gentle sounds of the river flowing nearby. Whether it’s under the morning light or the evening stars, it’s a peaceful moment of pure relaxation in nature.
