Riverside Retreat
Adventure in Bar Point, Sydney, NSW, AU
Only a short drive out of the city, there’s a bridge you turn off that will take you to a slice of sheer relaxation. And you know when you step off the water taxi and watch it pull away from the jetty, you really have found solitude! The boathouse was comfy, quaint and perfectly situated to watch life roll by on the Hawkesbury! We spent the days fishing, soaking up the sun and feeling the worries of the world dissipating with the roll of the river. It truly felt like another world. We snuggled by the fire at night, watched the stars twinkle off the river from the deck, and watched the sunrise up over the river from the same spot. We wandered through the tracks at the back of the property, kicked through piles of knee-deep foliage and lost any sense of time or having to be anywhere! This was a magical experience, and I’d jump at the chance to do it again.
Things We Did
- Fish
- Walk
- Swim
Hand lines are provided, so we gathered a few crabs under the rocks at low tide for bait, we obviously didn't know what we were doing as the neighbour got all the bites.
There's a little bush walk at the back of the property which was extremely fun to climb and explore through.
It was too cold and wet for us to go swimming however I couldn't help but imagine how amazing it would be jumping off the Jetty to refresh in the middle of summer. At low tide, there is even a little beach you can sunbathe on.
