Slow Down and Reconnect
Adventure in Lower Portland, Sydney, NSW, AU
This trip was just what we needed. Time away from the city, away from work and distraction to live that simple country life we dream of with our kids for a few days. We played, we read, rode bikes, foraged and created... we baked, we laughed, we ate we drank... we appreciated the small moments in nature with our family.
The tree swing was by far our daughters favourite. She spent hours on it, and our son loved cooking us "fish and chips" from the cubby house. The church had everything we needed to cook and do laundry and plenty of toys and games for the kids. The hosts were beyond amazing with their knowledge of the local area. We can't wait for our next visit!

We took a quick bike ride to Skeleton reserve to watch the ferryboats come and go. Next time we plan to take the ferry across to Paradise Cafe for lunch.
This place was definitely one we will take the kids back to. It's only open on Sundays and only $15 for the entire family (2 adults + 2 kids) it had far more to see than we could have got through in one afternoon. If you are in the area on a Sunday its a must-see with the kids, it's only a short drive for Sydney siders!
A quick stop for Lunch at Tractor 828. The kids enjoyed the cubby while we enjoyed a coffee.
In the morning after some rain the night before, we ventured into the garden to find bugs in the kids bug box and greenery to make a flower crown for my daughter.
A quick dip and a picnic on the Hawkesbury River.
On the afternoon it rained we made my son some birthday cupcakes. The kitchen was so well equiped, it had everything we needed.
We took a scenic drive to Ebenezer Church, the oldest church in Australia. There is a cafe which serves sandwiches, cakes and scones but it was closed on the day we visited. We walked around the grounds read the plaques and peered through windows.
