Stars a Billion

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you can’t still live like’s it’s the middle of January - and for a few days that’s exactly what I did. My girlfriend and I set off for a mid-week adventure to Wilson’s Promontory. The south-east region of Victoria feels like this untouched paradise - it’s a photographer’s dream.

After a solid roadtrip fuelled by some epic tunes we arrived at Coastal View Cabins. A cosy, wooden cabin with a ridiculous view of the prom. Did I mention you can catch that view from the hot tub too? After a quick bite, with enough time to spare, we headed towards The Big Drift to catch sunset. Golden light hitting the seemingly endless dunes of sand was an incredible sight.

Day 2 had a more coastal focus. Beach after beach it just kept getting better. And because it was still “summer” I thought I’d treat myself to a swim. The crystal clear waters of Whisky Bay were just too good to say no. That night we had dinner at the beach and spent the night photographing the stars. We were even lucky enough to run into a few of the locals (wombats) on the way back to the car. Apparently they were hungry too and my shoe looked quite appealing. When we got back to the cabin we tested out the hot tub and damn it was good! Through the dark I could faintly make out the waves in the distance - but that was no match for what the sky had to offer. A billion or so stars, and no light pollution to mess with my view.

Coastal View Cabins features an amazing hot tub with superb ocean and mountain views. The property is situated only 3 minutes’ drive to the Wilson’s Promontory National Park, and 2 minutes from a walking beach and boat ramp. Wilson’s was an absolute treat.
