Vineyard Cottage near Seaside Town

We arrived in the afternoon after sipping on natural wines on a pitstop in Geelong. The drive through the grand property gates alone indicated this was going to be a special place.

We were greeted by a warm, pristine studio with all the bougie essentials we could need - coffee, fancy granola, milk, tea, and a delicious bottle of red wine grown on the grounds. Saving the last few hours of light, we took a long walk around the vast grounds and said hello to the owner’s gorgeous chickens and golden retriever, Roxy. We then settled on a perfect picnic spot in the ideal green gardens overlooking a vineyard. Once the sun set, we moved to our veranda and toasted marshmallows in the toasty outdoor chimney.

The property was a perfect base to hit up the local beaches. We borrowed our host’s bikes and hit up the picturesque bike trail along Point Lonsdale Front Beach followed by a sunny skate along the retro boardwalk on the Eastern Beach Reserve in Geelong. If you’re looking for more of a bush vibe, check out the quiet walking trails at the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve.

Between our outdoor adventures, we dropped into Scotchmans Hill Winery for a wine tasting whilst overlooking an incredible view of the Melbourne skyline in the distance. Afterward, we popped down the road to The Whiskery. They make amazing gins, tasty pizzas and the place is buzzing on the weekends so make sure you book in advance.

We borrowed our host’s bikes and hit up the picturesque bike trail along Point Lonsdale Front Beach on the Bellarine Peninsula. It's a nice sheltered spot for families but you can find surf nearby and a local landmark, Point Lonsdale Lighthouse.

We brought our boards to the retro 1930s boardwalk at Eastern Beach Reserve leisure area which looks out over all the boats on the bay. An enclosed sea bath is perfect for warm weather.
